The Blue Casket – Offline
by Michael Cook on Nov.10, 2009, under Meta
Hello reader,
You’re reading The Blue Casket, one of the most extensive catalogues of ‘game diaries’ and AARs on the web. Unfortunately, I’m back in education again for just one last year, which means TBC is going offline for a considerable period of time. I may bring it back online again sometime in 2010, but for now please browse the archives and read some of the excellent stuff that everyone linked to on this site has written.
Thanks for stopping by,
Mike

No update today, as I’m rather busy (you may get a sneaky one posted up later). Why not go catch up on The Runner instead?
Let’s Play Sundays – Fallout 2
by Michael Cook on Aug.02, 2009, under Meta
You probably enjoyed Fallout 3 even if you didn’t play the originals, so why not take a peek at Fallout 2 and see what the game used to be like? I’ll be honest – the average gamer would probably struggle to make it through the game themselves nowadays. So this is the next best way to see what the world used to be like. It’s played through as a ’stupid’ character too, so it’ll raise a smile.

A short but sweet Empire: Total War AAR today that’s mostly notable for its excellent and highly detailed screenshots. Imagine how that looks when it moves.

Hello,
I’m away for the first part of this week, so no posts today and probably tomorrow unless you’re lucky. In the meantime, why not go and catch up on the latest episode of Reggio Perino posted this week?
This week, I’ll hopefully have a new blog to show you. Exciting times. Stay tuned and keep sending in your site suggestions!
Words, Words, Words – DeGeen Wordcloud
by Michael Cook on Jul.24, 2009, under Meta
I felt compelled to post this. Sam Geen’s superb Empire Total War blog is ongoing still, with the tale of Captain John Leake working its way up to a genuinely exciting conclusion. I hope you’re reading it! It’s worth dipping into even if you join halfway through. Go and absorb the sweary war-waging right now, by clicking on the banner to the right.
What you see above is a Wordle Sam composed from the first lot of posts to his epic tale. It sums up a surprising amount of the story. Not enough swears, though. Click for a bigger version.
Storytime With Agent 47
by Michael Cook on Jul.18, 2009, under Meta, Thoughts
Here’s an article I wrote for The Escapist way back in January, when The Blue Casket was a failed project sitting in the back of my mind, bugging me!
They say everyone has a story in them. So far, Jim has managed to conjure up three. He’s not quite made the bestseller lists yet, and searching on Amazon for his exploits won’t turn much up either, but Jim’s stories are not the sort that often make it into print. He’s been setting his tales of heroism, comedy and pet murder in the worlds of big-budget videogames – a sort of pixel fiction, if you will – and he’s not alone. It’s a trend that’s beginning to open itself up to the broader audiences of the web. (continue reading…)

No sooner does Mister Gamingdaily suggest I re-register bluecasket.co.uk, than my day off comes along and I do just that. So we’ve got a fancy new name now. How cool is that.
Anyway, day off work today; day off the blog. Normal service will resume! Thanks.

Hello, there. Welcome to The Blue Casket! This is a blog that watches, thinks about and creates metagaming blogs – stories of gamers and the games that they play. On this site are a host of blogs by some great writers, all about their favourite gaming experiences. As new ones appear, we’ll be letting you know where you can find them via this site, so do check back.
We’ll also be scouring the net to find similar websites and blogs that we think you’ll like to read. If you’ve got a blog you think we’ll be interested in, why not drop us a line? We can be emailed at bluecasket <at> sekritforum <dotcom>
