Have you played Mount and Blade? It’s an independently-developed, epic scale adventure game set in a nonspecific horses/swords/castles era. It’s got a really curious sense of freedom that allows you to seek your fortune as a bounty hunter, or go marauding as a pirate, or just run around on a horse going “Oooh.” at the trees.

Andrew Dunn has started off a diary set in a mod for Mount and Blade, telling the story of the dubiously heroic yet thoroughly manly gentleman Reggio Perino. It’s only just started, but the first episode alone is pretty hefty. Go take a look, and then go take a look at the game itself, which is mighty fine.
