by Michael Cook on Sep.05, 2009, under Shorts
Today we’ve got an experimental little thing from Cathal Healy, that might one day move on into a fully-fledged blog. For now though, here we are. If you’re interested in submitting a short, I like them under 1500 words and I like them sent to bluecasket at sekritforum.com.

I had a nice life. A beautiful wife, a wonderful baby boy and a house in the suburbs. Life was nice here, it was safe, it was comfortable.
I’m nothing special, I was never the smartest or the most ambitious. All I ever wanted was some basic comfort, I wanted a contented life, without mess without suplus…
“Your insurance policy does not cover your particular condition. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Ha, you couldn’t make it up. 10 years of insurance cover but as soon as I actually get sick, they scatter, using every possible legal loop hole to avoid paying their dues. This world makes me sick. Medicines are expensive, I’ve long gone through our savings and now they’re trying to take my home from me. They want to put me and my family on the street. “I’m sorry Mr. Payne, but we are forced to foreclose on your debt. You will receive the courts summons within 5 business days, it is important that you atten…..”
I feel nauseas. I my mouth becomes dry and arid. What have I done? What now?
I have made many mistakes in my life, some I have learnt from, some I have not. Some I have set right, some I have not. This time, this time I will set things right.
They will call me a monster, they will call me a killer but these names are false. I am a liberator. I will liberate this city, this world from the filth which fill it’s streets, from the drug dealers the narcissists the haters, the racist the paedophiles and the wrong doers. Today, it begins.
