I woke up. I appeared to be in some kind of prison. Interestingly, there were no guards...

...nor door, for this was no prison of the body, it was a prison of the mind. I sat up sharply, banging my head on the ceiling of the mind. Flashing lights, then, suddenly...

I heard a loud crack and an ejaculation from above me. I looked up, not actually moving as such as it appeared I was still lying down. I opened my eyes and saw the bulge above me. It appeared to be some kind of bunk-bed. There was someone - or something - above me. I could only assume its head had been brought into contact with the ceiling...

I fell back down with a thump, masonry falling down with me. My super-strong forehead pulsed with runic energy, when I suddenly heard a rustling below me.

But this was no mere assumption. I had, unbelievably, actually seen the man above me smack his head against the ceiling... A man, sat there, well built, illegal and savory, with the roof falling around him onto his bed. And, it seemed, he was wearing no clothes, or at least, none that I could see. This turn of events aroused my suspicions, and not just that...

It had aroused my curiosity.

'Hey!' I exclaimed, loudly. The man looked down, leaning over the edge of the bunk and looked at me, hard...

...The air above me was still, stagnant, and full of rocks. I had tried to catch as many of them as I could with my face, but a few managed to hit me on the clavicle. Truly this was a Hard Place.

My musings were disturbed by a muffled "hey!" from beneath me. I eased my tortured torso around the bed and glared downwards. A man lay there. I responded.

"Hey!"

As I pondered his reply, I also pondered the fact that I could see through his head. You might say, I could see how he was thinking.

'Who are you?' I asked, waiting with baited breath for the reply...

I paused momentarily, shocked at the directness of the question. I could not help but respond, though I fought the urge as long as I could. I pretended to have misheard him.

"What?"

'I said', I said, 'who are you?'

His reticence was intriguing. As I attempted to see what purpose his guile might serve, I struggled with bedsheets, with the unnerving feeling that we were not alone...

I burst into the room to see two men on a bunk bed, one appeared to be naked with a non-translucent head and the other with no distinctive features at all.

"Hey", I said...

I picked up a diskette from a darkened corner of the room. These others didn't know what they were on about. I picked it up and slotted into the meagre computer interface. Maybe it'd call a guard. It didn't. It did, however, open the door, and outside, was the clear path of destruction left by the man known to us as Nemesis...but what was this place? No guards? Who are we exactly? It seems like we're between a rock...and a hard place.

I also noticed an old man in the corner, babbling to himself and playing with a disk. I decided to ignore him, as he had just inserted the disk into a hole in the wall and tried to leave through the window.
